Artist Statement

I became interested in painting around 15 years ago and after experimenting with different mediums I decided that acrylic was the one I preferred. I had been feeling a little lost and remembered that I had been passionate about drawing as a child and kids at school would pay me for my drawings in pennies and halfpennies. I am completely self-taught, and I love painting beaches, animals, and landscapes.

My first exhibition was at a studio in Grange where I sold 9 paintings. I have also shown and sold my artwork at the Festival Theatre, the Rundle Street Markets and in different exhibitions in Adelaide where I have won several awards including People’s Choice. One highlight was an elderly woman buying one of my beach paintings. She was crying and said that she used to walk down such a beach path with her mother when she was a little girl. I found this very moving at the time. I really love painting and I am very grateful for the opportunity to show my work at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

I am delighted to have my work displayed in a hospital as people in in these spaces are often going through a time of difficulty and anxiety. I hope that my work will give them something to enjoy and make their day a little brighter.
