Zoe’s art explores matricentric feminism, a feminism that centres mothers’ experiences and their work in the home, in society and culture. Zoe’s drawings and paintings presented images of a mother’s changing identity alongside dependents, children and pets. Several small paintings captured landscapes from close to Zoe’s home, places she has walked with her children, who sometimes take the source photographs for the paintings.

Zoe is pleased to have shared these works in the Margaret Preston Gallery at the Royal Adelaide Hospital. Images of the complex experiences of mothers and carers are not often shown in visual culture. Zoe hoped that people can identify with aspects of these works and consider their own experience of care and caring.
