With more than 100 different conditions under the one umbrella, arthritis can often feel like piecing together a jigsaw puzzle.
So, to show how the South Australian arthritis community is interconnected, two charities of The Hospital Research Foundation (THRF) Group, Arthritis and Creative Health, teamed up to create a puzzle of their own.
Members of the arthritis community were invited to attend two workshops where they worked alongside Creative Health’s art therapists to create their own jigsaw pieces.
Spanning a broad range of ages, backgrounds and experiences, each piece represents the unique lived experiences of each participant.
Once complete, the pieces were put together into one finished artwork, representing the interconnected and diverse arthritis community in SA.
It also highlighted that arthritis can affect anyone, at any age and in many ways.
The complete puzzle is now hanging up in the foyer of THRF Group – Arthritis’ office at Welland, greeting everyone as they walk in.
