During September, The Hospital Research Foundation Group – Creative Health was proud to present a very special exhibition at Fullarton Park Community Centre’s Hughes Gallery.
The exhibition, called ‘Palimpsest’, featured art works produced by the participants of Kaz Pedersen’s Veterans Art Program.
Kaz is our creative arts tutor and works with veterans at the Fullarton Art Studio and the Jamie Larcombe Centre.

One of the pieces on display for Palimpsest.
But what is Palimpsest? Well, it’s defined as something reused or altered but still bearing visible traces of its earlier form.
The participants of the Veterans Art Program have all experienced the impacts of service.
Their contemporary lives and personalities usually have diverse layers or aspects from their previous lives, and these are apparent beneath the surface.
Their art is a multi-layered manifestation of their experiences through their lives.
Officially opened on 31 August, the exhibition took place from 2 September through to 22 September and was supported by the City of Unley.
Participating in art has provided these veterans with a valuable outlet for expressing and regulating their emotions, and they were thrilled to showcase their work to the public.
