A new Video and Moving Image Program will create a healing environment for hospital patients who are unable to leave their rooms or have visitors.
The Centre for Creative Health (CCH) is excited to be initiating this program that will provide accessible artistic and cultural experiences for hospital patients and the broader CCH community, whilst promoting the diversity and vitality of contemporary artists.
Due to COVID-19, government and hospital policies meant that patients were unable to have visitors and their ability to move around the hospital was very limited.
Senior Curator at CCH Fiona Borthwick says the idea around this new program is to bring the healing environment to the bedside, workstation or wherever the viewer may be.
“For patients unable to move from their hospital rooms, this digital artwork space provide a distraction for them and hopefully help them get their mind off what they are going through,” Fiona said.
“We hope it will alleviate stress and create conversation with anyone visiting them and hospital staff, as well as a healing environment for patients.”
Patients will be able to access these digital artworks on their own smartphone or device, through CCH’s YouTube Channel and website.
Call out for Artists
CCH is also encouraging early, mid-career and established artists working in the medium of video or moving image to submit their artworks for consideration.
