Twenty-eight South Australian artists have been selected as finalists for The Hospital Research Foundation Group – Creative Health Art Prize.
Sharing a collective prize pool of $52,000, the winners of the prestigious competition will be announced on 31 August.
THRF Group – Creative Health Art Prize shines a light on the relationship between the arts and health in South Australia.
All finalists’ artworks will be displayed in THRF Group – Creative Health Art Prize Finalists Exhibition, which will run from 29 August until 22 September at Light Square Gallery (TAFE SA, Adelaide College of the Arts).
Art lovers will have the opportunity to purchase the displayed artworks – with a portion of sale prices going towards continued support of Creative Health programs in South Australian health care settings.
South Australian artists were invited to respond to the theme of Healing as it relates to health and wellbeing.
After receiving more than 200 entries from artists at various stages in their career, 27 artworks (from 28 artists) across a range of mediums have been chosen by a Preselection Panel of their peers. The Preselection Panel was made up of artist, Tricia Ross; artist, Thomas Readett; and TAFE SA Principal Lecturer and Flinders University Senior Lecturer, Gregory Ackland.
On behalf of the Preselection Panel, artist Tricia Ross congratulated all entrants in this year’s Art Prize.
“It was an honour to review this year’s THRF Group – Creative Health Art Prize artistic responses to the theme of healing,” Tricia said.
“Those artists selected as finalists have woven creativity, thoughtful consideration, and excellence into their works.”
